This report examines the findings of a national survey of NHS speech and language therapy managers and assesses the impact made by the reforms on this profession. It is divided into six parts. The introduction describes the context of the research and briefly reviews the literature which informed and seems most relevant to the project. Following this, the aims and objectives are presented. The next section describes the research design, dealing with the two phases of the project. It describes the development of the questionnaires based on depth interviews conducted in Northern Ireland and England during phase one. This section also discusses the sampling frame, survey administration and response rates. The survey results section presents the findings of the national survey, including a profile of the respondents. The report concludes with a discussion of these findings.
