  • The material in this document is based on a series of papers given at a conference held at the King's Fund Hospital Centre. This book is an attempt to discuss the part of the the research and development project at Greenwich District Hospital which was concerned with some of the planning problems. It is published not as a record of work done but also because the results have general significance for the principles and practice of planning in general as well as for hospital planning in particular. Part one discusses the particular research and briefing methods developed for the Greenwich project; part two consists of four case studies showing how the methods were used by the teams who were responsible for the research and planning for inpatient and outpatient services and for the operating and clinical pathology departments.
