  • This conference arose from investigatory work carried out by the Institute for Consumer Ergonomics on the system of developing and manufacturing aids and equipment for handicapped people in this country. The conference centred on the provision of adequate, suitable and effective aids to reduce the effects of various forms of disability, and to help the disabled person to live more independently than he or she could otherwise do. The problems of information and finance were discussed along with the supply of trained personnel and the individuality of each disabled person.
