  • In 1976, the Jubilee Project was established by the King's Fund to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee by upgrading wards in ten of London's older hospitals. Many of London's district general hospitals had not been rebuilt as had been planned in the early 1960s, and little renovation had been undertaken, resulting in poor morale and frustration of staff. It was felt that the accommodation in the solidly built Victorian hospitals could be brought up to an acceptable standard for modern care of patients by refitting the wards. This report was written to supplement an exhibition which showed the changes to wards which had been possible as a result of the Jubilee Project. Plans of the ward renovations are included in the folder.
