This report provides a critical response to the Report of the Working Party on the Recruitment and Training of Nurses which was submitted to the Minister of Health. It points out that in reaching their conclusions, the Working Party appear to have achieved a high degree of detachment from the urgent claims of the present shortage of nurses. Thus most of the recommendations can be regarded only as possible long-term policy as there would be no prospect of obtaining the number of staff essential within the next decade for the radical changes recommended in the Report.
