Abstract
  • This survey originated from tutorial discussions at the college, at a time when there was concern about the difficulty experienced by hospital authorities in recruiting grammar school leavers in the London area. It was decided to seek information about the problem from regional training officers and, at the same time, ask how these young recruits were deployed during the first couple of years of their careers. Common practices and methods are summarised in the document, while more out of the ordinary methods are discussed in detail.
