  • This study day arose from the D.H.S.S. study of the same name published in 1981 and was concerned with the policy implications of the D.H.S.S. document. An overview of the 'Respective Roles' study was given before discussing "models" of geriatric care with their advantages and disadvantages, and opportunities for mutual support and collaboration between the acute and geriatric sectors. The implications of caring for elderly people in an acute hospital were explored with particular emphasis on the implications for health districts and individual professionals.
