This second conference was presented with very definite and deliberately chosen terms of reference to form the basis of the papers and discussions. These were: 1) in the changing context of hospital administration what are the most important problems of today?; 2) how are these problems being dealt with and what specific researches are in progress in Western Europe. This report is in two parts. Part I endeavours to set out in summary form some of the slaient problems presented to hospital administrators in the various countries of Western Europe; what is being done to solve these problems and what further measures need to be devised before solution is likely to come in sight. Part II contains a reprint of each of the papers presented.
