  • The aims of this conference were to identify the problems that are particular to those working in terminal care, to find ways of solving them, and to look at the future development of the specialty. Terminal care is distinguished from other medical care by the need to relieve pain that is physical, emotional and spiritual; and the emphasis placed on the importance of teamwork. Teamwork, the need to sustain professional standards without adequate training courses and the assessment of quality of work were all considered during discussion.
