  • This book is based on the first research study to look at the impact on women of a positive cervical smear and subsequent investigation and treatment. It follows their experiences from the initial discovery through to outpatient treatment or inpatient surgery. The authors describe the thoughts and feelings women have at different stages; they document the symptoms resulting from medical intervention, the causes of anxiety, and make recommendations for meeting the need for information and support throughout the medical process. The authors hope this book will increase mutual understanding and collaboration in preserving women's health.
