Abstract
  • This book is for doctors and gives accounts of the type of work done by the King's Fund with them. It contains doctors' stories of their experiences as managers and the author and her colleagues' experiences of working as management developers with doctors. Beginning with a theoretical account of the work and the reaction of some consultants to it, the book continues with accounts of various types of problem doctors experience with management: time management, communication, complex problems and personal fears. It concludes by looking at the different approaches required in clinical practice and management, and how doctors could use this book or management development courses to suit their situation and style.
