  • As the interest in nurse led initiatives increases, it is critical that those who are exploring ways forward share their experiences. This early account of Byron Ward Nursing Development Unit at King's Healthcare, London, describes the rationale behind the move to introduce nurse led beds in a busy acute general hospital as well as outlining some of the practical steps taken during the initial stages of the work. The importance of such initiatives is stressed and an outline is given of the approach which is being followed.
