  • The Advice and Legal Representation Project, set up in 1982, was the first legal and advice service for people with mental health problems to be based within a psychiatric hospital. The Project offers a free and independent service to hospital-based psychiatric patients. As it was a unique venture, the Project felt it important to record and evaluate its development, both as a general learning resource, and as a guide for those wishing to establish similar schemes elsewhere. This report records the Project's day to day work, the issues raised and difficulties experienced during that time, and looks at possible future developments.
