Abstract
In 1961 King Edward's Hospital Fund undertook a study to look at the application of electronic computers to hospital practice. The committee also met to develop an integrated management information and accounting system suitable for operation by computers. The document is divided into three sections, the first of which looks at the factors taken into consideration by the committee when considering the review. The second section considers the feasibility of using a centralised computer to provide an integrated accounting system for the London teaching hospitals. The third section considers the feasibility of using a centralised computer to provide a complete and economic payroll service, fully integrated with the financial accounts, for the 26 London teaching hospitals.
