  • The fifth King's Fund Forum was held in London on 27-29 June 1988. Five questions were addressed: 1) What are the responsibilities of service providers for patients and their carers? ; 2) For presumed stroke sufferers what has been shown to be of diagnostic value? ; 3a) What treatments have been shown to be effective in the first few days following a stroke? ; 3b) What has been shown to reduce recurrence? ; 4) What assessment and rehabilitation is appropriate in the first six months for patients and their families and carers? ; 5) Considering the costs and benefits of the components of stroke care, what are the principles of good practice in the provision of services?
